"Career Progression Framework"

As may be the case in many firms, one of the primary reasons for voluntary turnover within BioBridge Global’s subsidiaries is due to the lack of defined career paths.  Simply put, if employees don’t have a clear view of the path and opportunities ahead, they will create their own path by resigning.  Given the expense and disruption associated with turnover, a method to clearly communicate career opportunities and describe the associated requirements in order to allow employees to plan their career growth is a best practice. 

Join us at our June meeting as John Barnes, Vice President Human Resources & Learning, describes the method and process he and his team developed to define and communicate career path opportunities for BioBridge Global’s employees.

Vice President Human Resources & Learning

BioBridge Global

John is the Vice President, Human Resources & Learning for BioBridge Global.  BioBridge Global (BBG) is a nonprofit company that oversees and supports the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center, QualTex Laboratories, GenCure, and The Blood and Tissue Center Foundation.  In his role, John has responsibility for Human Resources, Learning & Development, and internal strategy development and communication.  He also owns an HR software design firm and in the course of his work, he has filed two patent applications for software programs.  Prior to his work with BBG, he held senior management positions in operations and human resources at several firms including Texas Biomedical Research Institute, Accenture and ILEX Oncology, Inc. 

He is active with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is a member of the San Antonio Human Resource Management Association where he served as the president of the Association in 1990.  He is a member of Kappa Gamma Pi, the National Catholic College Graduate Honor Society, Delta Mu Delta, a National Business Administration Honor Society and Delta Sigma Pi, a National Professional Business Fraternity.  John is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and an Eagle Scout.  He has served as a volunteer for numerous community organizations including serving as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Montessori School of San Antonio and Scoutmaster for a local Boy Scout troop.  John is a graduate of the FBI Citizen’s Academy and is a member of InfraGard, a public-private partnership between U.S. businesses and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

John earned an Associate of Arts degree from New Mexico Military Institute, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from New Mexico State University, and a Master of Business Administration degree with highest honors from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.
